Ways To Spend More Time With Your Children

Parenting seems to be more complicated than ever, with the big problem for most parents being a lack of time. There never seems to be enough time to do all that needs to be done at work and at home. Unfortunately, because of this it is the child that suffers.

Ways To Spend More Time With Your Children

Spending time with your children is important. You want to be sure that you spend as much as possible but how can you do this when time is so limited? The following tips should help you to achieve just that.

Limit The Child’s Overscheduling

Children that want to spend time on various activities after school should be encouraged but too much is too much. You want to limit the child to 1 afterschool activity. Contrary to what many think, this is something that is harder for a parent than a child since the parent wants the child to do as many things as possible. However, the child normally just wants one or things that would be done at home. At the same time, you teach the child to make an important choice, which is also a big part of being a parent.

Weekly Family Meal

Because of a lack of time, many parents just rely on fast cooking and takeaway, like muscle meals, but it is important to spend time as a family, around a table. Create a tradition of having one weekly family meal. This is something that you might think is useless at first but after some time, it will become a really important bonding tradition. Make this a weekend tradition if you need more time.

Turn Off The TV

It is a surprise to see how many parents just let the TV stay on during meals. As a result, table talk does not exist and the atmosphere is mainly built around what is on TV. All you need to do is to turn off the TV and make the conversations between you as the center of the experience. Basically, what you have to remember is that when the TV runs in the background, family time is just worse.

The Reading Tree

This is a really interesting idea you most likely never heard before. Go to the backyard and find a tree. Make this your Reading Tree. Take a blanket and a book. Then, make the tree a story time spot. This makes spending time with your children more enjoyable since you also take advantage of what nature offers.

Double Cooking

This is another great way to save some time and get rid of unnecessary trouble. Just double every single recipe that you cook. Then, freeze the half that is not eaten. This allows you to have a lot more free time for another day. You gain time since you no longer have to cook the meal again. That time can be used to bond with children.

As you can see, there are always some simple ways to spend more time with your children. You just need to be creative and find what works for your family.
