My Cold Weather Skin Reactions Reduced with Seirus Innovations ProductsPicMonkey Image

It began about 2 years ago. I would sit at my son’s soccer practice and shortly after feel welts on the bottom of my feet and then start itching my neck and arms. I would get these hives that were red and very itchy. I remember sitting in a chair on the sidelines one cold morning game just going nuts! My neck was so itchy and my hands were suddenly so red. It was cold and so uncomfortable. It began happening at practices and games all season. I knew at my upcoming physical appointment I would want to mention it.

My doctor appointment came and I told her my itchy welt stories. They always happen when outside and cold. They occur at my son’s sports events, washing the car and out in the yard. I was told it is Cold Urticaria. This condition is a skin reaction to cold that appears within minutes after cold exposure. Affected skin develops reddish, itchy welts (hives).

I still suffer today! I am physically uncomfortable in my own skin on cold days and nights I have to be outdoors. I no longer sit on the field for any of my son’s outdoor practices as I sit in the car with the heat on. My husband washes my car on cooler days for me. If the house is too cold (for my skin) I am in layers to avoid turning the heat too far up. I refuse to sit out his games so I just suffer through it. I suffer through evening walks with my husband and our puppy!

Now I have some relief! I am seriously more grateful than anyone can imagine for Seirus products! Their all-weather, heatwave and heat touch products are a lifesaver if I have to go outside in the cold. Their snow products keep me just warm enough to avoid the itchy redness. Essentially every area of my body where skin is exposed will break out!

I use the DynaMax Fleece-Lined Neck-Up and it literally keeps all the redness and hives away for an entire practice! Another product of theirs I have is the Heatwave Socks. When my skin is reacting to cold, even with shoes and standard socks I get very itchy welts on the bottom of my feet! These socks got me through flag football clinics for him the other day and I had no welts. I bought myself some Seirus gloves online last spring and they worked so well I knew their other lines would work great and I am so relieved now from head to toe.

Maybe you don’t suffer with Cold Urticaria. Maybe you love snow sports or just hate the cold. Seirus will help you out from heatwave to Gore-Tex and extreme weather wear. You’ll want to see all that they offer at Seirus.com.

2 Weather Stations to Keep You Ahead of the Storms

Keeping ahead of changing weather or storms is a benefit for so many reasons. I live in the Pacific NW and early in the week it makes no sense to check ahead for the weekend weather. This is because the coast brings in so many fronts it can change in a day. I have seen reports of rain for a Saturday soccer game and arrive layered with umbrellas only to sit and bask in the sun. Then I have had the reverse where I’m watching from the car because a cloud decided to come right to us and open up.

I keep a wireless temperature station in my home. I have the range reader outside by my slider and the station in my kitchen. The weather may say sunny but if I look outside and see clouds and notice the pressure falling I know there is a chance of moisture that could occur. It’s also handy to have the date, time and indoor temperature so easily available on the large digital screen. I have the La Crosse Wireless Color Temperature Station.

La Crosse has more products that bring your accurate weather and time. With a son heading off to college it is important that he always gets to class on time. Therefor, I am sending him with a reliable alarm clock. It is digital, made with accuracy and is an atomic alarm clock. If he forgets about daylight savings or to reset after a power failure, his clock won’t forget to keep up and adjust to the correct time on its own.

How does the Atomic Alarm Clock help you keep ahead of the changing weather? It also has a display for humidity and indoor temperature. Living in a stuffy dorm gets muggy and knowing what the humidity is doing makes this clock as intelligent as I have seen. Oh and the fun part is the color moon phase you get. My 8 year old tried to claim his brothers clock for that feature alone. It even has a USB post so they can charge devices right from their alarm clock.

Learn Weather and Science Facts for Kids with Kobe Manatee

I was sent a review copy for feature

New release children's book
by Robert Scott Thayer
As a parent to a second grader I am always on the hunt for books that educate and teach science or history as those are the least focused subjects in the lower grades. While I look for science and history titles, he gravitates to adventure and mystery. The best type to read is one that combines the two, like a good adventure to learn weather and science facts for kids with Kobee Manatee in this new book.
Learn weather with a children's book
Kobee goes on a long adventure to try and reach his sister for her birthday. He wants to surprise her but she lives in the Bahamas and he lives all the way in Key West, Florida. The tricky part-it is hurricane season! He must battle the season through the Atlantic and into the Gulf Stream. He brings two friends with him for the journey and as you read the book your child will experience surprises and fun facts on each page about weather.
Here is a sample fact:
A rip current is a very strong current that flows away from the shore. It is usually narrow in width. If you get caught in one, don’t panic. Swim parallel to the shore, and swim back in.
About the Author:
