Geology Lab for Kids

by: Garret Romaine

When I saw the title of this book, Geology Lab for Kids: 52 Projects To Explore Rocks, Gems, Geodes, Crystals, Fossils, And Other Wonders Of The Earth’s Surface, I knew it was the perfect book for Anthony. At 9 years old and entering grade 4, he is completely intrigued by rocks and minerals. The book came and sat for a few days until he asked if I can read him a story when he was sick and trying to rest.

I picked up this book and was reading him education and lessons about minerals for the first couple of pages and then he couldn’t put the book down. He is folding corners of experiments and labs he wants to do. He wants to make sugar crystals and salt rocks now.

Just in the fist pages we learned what forms earth and about some periodic table formulas that create minerals. It is more than just a list of projects.

If you have a Geology lover, this is such a fantastic book. Once they start browsing through it there is so much on every page. Even if you can’t get to the labs right away, each project offers education and pictures that virtually walk you through the why, what and how of a project.
